This is why I had to "borrow" the Vanity Fair from work the other day. So what if I haven't actually seen Colin Farrell in anything aside from a Daily Show interview, and have no idea if he can actually act or not? Doesn't matter. The only problem with the photo is that you can't hear his accent {g}.
I also have no idea what that quote means, even reading it in context in the article.

This is interesting. Luckily, I wear my seatball all the time anyway. But it seems sort of... wrong. Besides, don't most people want to get rid of squeegee kids, rather than see more of them? (or think that they're seeing more of them?) Won't the actual kids and the cops be in competition for the good intersections? Hmm.

I was in a foul mood most of Tuesday, even though I was doing everything that should have cheered me up -- getting gelato, sitting under a tree at Kits Beach -- nothing worked. I was even considering skipping out on the instructional videos at the Blinding Light (especially as I was trying to find parking, and managed to get hot and flustered enough to run a red light, almost killing myself in the process). But all it took was some prolonged waving and a friendly punch on the shoulder, and I cheered up instantly. (If I hadn't approved before, that would have done it -- he's a good guy.)
And with the exception of the lobotomy film and the what-to-do-if-a-crazy-man-with-a-knife-starts-yelling-at-you police training video (shoot him, apparently. repeatedly. oy.), the instructional videos (scroll down to "From the Vault") were hilarious. Even the fifteen minute long one that was nothing but trains (trains in the rain, trains at dusk, trains standing still, trains moving slowly) was hilarious, thanks to the audience participation. I've never been to such a MST3K'd movie -- well, not counting our take on the Phantom Menace or LOTR {g}. And I've never seen such an appropriate use of shadow puppets.
Other things that cheer me up: the girl at the coffee place being in a good mood and punching a bunch of extra holes in my buy-6-get-1-free card, one of the sales reps buying us tea this morning (and not only that, but she somehow knew to get me peppermint tea), no doctor working today (makes work very boring but very peaceful). Oh, and I made cornmeal muffins yesterday. Mmm... so good. So I guess it was okay to use canola oil instead of vegetable oil. (Although apparently my cousin the chef loathes canola. I have no idea why.)

I can't decide if I approve of the Weezer-Muppets video or not. It's undeniably cool, and it's very cute (although nothing beats baby animals), but it seems wrong somehow.
Nicole is my new favourite person. I just watched the first three episodes of Six Feet Under. I knew I'd like it.
And yay, Peter Krause! (although he just doesn't seem quite right without Dan *sigh*) (and what the hell, Casey McCall was in an episode of Spin City? Craziness) And yay, Rachel Griffiths! I don't know if I've ever seen her in anything else before, but she's cool.
And it's such a nice-looking show (even without the cast). And it has good music.
Could it finally be time to replace my Lord of the Rings obsession with something new?

Darn... thought I was working at 9:00 this morning, instead of 9:30, so I got up half an hour earlier than I had to.
Oh well, at least that gives me time to get online and complain about being up early.

This was my weekend for hanging around with large groups of strangers. Stressful, but lots of fun. I'd hoped meeting new people would be less stressful after travelling by myself for two months -- after the first few weeks I had no trouble starting conversations with people -- but no... I think it's because when you're travelling and meet someone in a hostel, especially if they're also travelling alone, you automatically have things in common and things to talk about. You're also a little more desperate for companionship {g}. Still, I think I'm at least more willing to hang out with people I'm not totally familiar with, even if it's not any easier to be outgoing.
Saturday: all you can eat sushi, followed by sangria (mmm... sangria), a reading of Fillerbunny by the talented Paul (I wouldn't have thought that hearing a comic read aloud could be so very entertaining), and a frightening game of Truth or Dare. Although I think Truth or Dare with these people is always frightening. I thought I knew a lot about their sexual habits before, but oh my... Also, I was privileged to hear the Cutest Noise Ever(tm), which is produced by poking Glen in just the right place {g} (Not that I would ever dare to poke him myself, oh no. I leave that to the experts.)
Sunday: a slightly tamer meal this morning: dim sum with Zhan and sarah and a bunch of other very clever and witty people. (Clever, witty, and snarky.) Good food, entertaining talk... it was fun. Then I came home, went for a bike ride for the first time in ages, and finally got around to cleaning my room completely. (As opposed to the half-assed job I'd been doing every weekend since I got back.)
And tomorrow my parents are off on their cruise. Yay!
