The Meandering Mind

Hee hee, I love emails from people whose english isn't all that great... it's amazing how well accents come across in writing.

Strange thing about sending emails -- eventually people reply to them. Neato.

There've been a lot of foolish people at work lately.

A couple came in last night and asked a bunch of questions about eye exams and the cost and so on, and then the husband asked, "How long does it take? Can we have it done while we wait?" Sorry, sir, you'll have to drop your eyeballs off and pick them up tomorrow morning.

Then there was the guy who called in to ask whether cleaning his contact lenses would eventually wear the prescription off them.

And finally there was the man who seemed to know what he was talking about: "I know I have astigmatism in one eye," he began. But alas, no. He continued, "Can I get some drops for that?"

Not to mention all the people coming in who want free lenses ("But I always get free ones!"). Or who seem to think that the fact that they have to pay for their eye exam now isn't about the government cutting off coverage, but rather that the doctor's just gotten greedy.

I like working with people, I really do. But I still hope my next job doesn't involve customers.

If you ever need cheering up, I recommend compliments, dirty games involving brooms and toilet paper tubes, and obscene cakes.

Friend's bachelorette party this afternoon, if the last half of the previous sentence wasn't enough of a hint. It was fairly tame (cakes and brooms aside), but a lot of fun. Just wish it hadn't been so rushed.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was on tonight. Hadn't seen it before, and although I'd heard he was in it, it still took me quite a while to realise that that was Guy Pearce. Wow. I think I might need to see Memento again. (Or any other movie where he's shirtless :P) And I do love Hugo Weaving. I need to see Bedrooms and Hallways again, too. Even if he is extremely creepy in it.

Watched the end of Ghost World last night. I liked it when I saw it in the theatre, although at the time I think it had been a while since I'd read the graphic novel, and this time I read the comic and then watched the movie only about a week later. I like the movie very much, and the acting didn't seem quite as stiff this time (or maybe it just didn't bother me as much). Though I do prefer the book. The characters are basically the same, but I had forgotten, when I saw it the first time, how different the stories are.

Do you ever find yourself not blogging so you can talk about something in person? Or, much more tragically, not talking about something in person so you can blog about it?

Apparently the cat's now on antidepressants. Hm.

Huh, a person's mood sure can change drastically within a few hours. Three hours ago, I felt fine. Now, for no reason whatsoever, I feel completely horrible.

Holy SHIT I'm a moron.

Two posts lost in a row, both my fault.

*snarlgrumblebitch*

To summarize my last post, which was a summary of the post before it: the neighbours painted their door yellow.

Then there was some stuff about MP3s and my new dress and chocolate and tv watching and the cat and my parents going on their cruise soon and yeah... meh. I blame Netscape. (Because my own enormous stupidity clearly had nothing to do with it.)

So I think my recent laziness was more than made up for yesterday -- went for a 6-7km hike (trees! hills! scenic views! breasts! frogs!), had a sort-of-not-quite BBQ (so when it's smoked salmon, you don't need to cook it...), gazed in awe at the power of Mel's mullet, and went to Death by Chocolate for the first time in ages. It was nice.

Today was not nearly as exciting, as it was spent wandering around the mall looking for a dress. I did end up buying one, and I think it might be the one I end up wearing to the wedding (yeah yeah) but I'm not sure yet. Who would have thought it would be so hard to find a dress that was more formal than a sundress, less formal than a grad dress, a good colour (i.e. blue), in my size, and that actually fit? Impossible. Bah. (Although I must admit that deep down, shopping is kind of fun. I am a girly girl. *gasp*)
