Forget to mention about Thursday and Friday's shows -- both were attended by the famous Reg Harkema, editor of Last Night and director/co-writer of A Girl is a Girl. Oooh. I know you're impressed.
Only other comments about last night's show: The Battles are great, and I seriously need to learn how to carry on a conversation.

Ooh. Tour dates.
May 12: Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver.
At which point I will (hopefully) be in Paris. (Boo hoo, poor me.)
However... I wonder if my flight to London could include a stopover in Toronto, perhaps, say, April 1st at the Canon Theatre? {g}

I had a decent Valentine's Day. Okay, so there wasn't anything particularly Valentine's-y about it, apart from getting chocolate from my parents in the morning and spending the evening at work mocking the last minute shoppers desperately lined up at the florist's across from the office.
Made it down to the Sugar Refinery in plenty of time to hear the first band (well, guy): Burquitlam Plaza. The name alone was the main reason I wanted to go last night {g}. (Makes no sense if you don't live around here, but Burquitlam Plaza is the local strip mall, vaguely run-down, home to Dairy Queen and Value Village, among other things.) Apparently his music was written to reflect the sadness that is Burquitlam Plaza. (I don't remember the exact quote describing his music -- sarah?)
And the music wasn't bad. I liked his stuff last night better than when I saw him with his other band -- although they did play nothing but Christmas music then, so it was a little hard to judge their sound. And he did have a song that began, "Oh failure...", which was amusing.
I have no idea who the next guy was, but he got up there with his guitar and sang some stuff. Um... it was pretty good. He had some good rhymes. And he sang about trees at one point. (I should write for Rolling Stone, shouldn't I. My music reviews are awesome.)
Last was Parks and Rec, which was made up of people from a bunch of different bands I'd never heard about until the last time I was at the Sugar Refinery. The inbred local music scene, apparently. They played nice, calm music that did tend to blend together from one song to the next, but made very pleasant background music. And of course, the drummer was fabulous, and so dreamy... *sigh*. Heh.
Random overheard quote of the evening:
Guy 1: "She's a part time model, so her values are kind of different from mine. She drives like, a new car, for example."
*pause*
Guy 2: "Sounds pretty good to me!"
Hey, it amused me.

Ohhh my, what's happening to the newsgroup?
At least it's more amusing than annoying now, but I'm think glad I don't post anymore.
(not that I ever did, much, but whatever.)
Okay, who the heck is "That moan from the telephone"? I can't tell from the answers they guessed, either. Hmmm. I am perplexed.
Hey, I think I remember the person who made this quiz from a Callum list. Or maybe it was something to do with Hard Core Logo. Weird.
(Just to clarify, btw, I do know what the three letter word for Tolkien's tree creatures is. Wouldn't want anyone to think my geekiness was slipping.)
Oh! And I tried to quit my job, (well, give notice) only to have my boss basically refuse {g}. I told her I'm planning on going to Europe in April and May, and she said, "Well, I can write you up in the books as having officially quit, but do you really want to do that?" So now she's basically giving me two months off to travel, which means I'll have a full time job this summer.
It sucks, in a way, because I was looking forward to having a more relaxing summer -- not that this job is terribly taxing, but I thought I'd find something part time, and it would make a nice change. On the other hand, a full time job for an extra two or three months is going to mean a lot more money, and I could really use that if I'm going to be taking the next two years off for school.
Of course, this all hinges upon being accepted to school in the fall... and I have six more weeks at least to wait until I know about that. (Then again, if I'm not accepted for this year, I'll have way more money with which to go to Japan. Or Iceland. Or wherever {g}.)
My mom just rushed down the hall and asked, "What's a three-letter word for Tolkien's tree creatures?" Curious.
Yes, I'm in a better mood now, thank you. Although frugally choosing a trip to the library over a concert tonight was clearly a mistake -- not only am I undoubtedly going to miss groovy music, I found out that I owe $21.50 in library fines. Ow. I could still probably rush downtown and make it in time for the show... but no. Laziness wins again. (Practicality, not laziness! I'm saving money and getting a decent night's sleep! Yeah, right.) And I'll have no good excuse when sarah raves about the show afterwards. Oh well.
Instead, I will enjoy a quiet night consisting of Smallville-watching (the last episode was almost good! amazing), guide-book flipping (I have a huuuuge stack to go through now) and possibly even a little David Sedaris.

At a certain point this afternoon, I felt myself instantly and for no reason slip into a bad mood, and haven't been able to get out of it yet. No cause for it whatsoever. Bleh.

I thought chartreuse was pinkish purple. Apparently it's not. What other words have I been mistaken about, all these years?
"What is objectionable, what is dangerous, about extremists is not that they are extreme, but that they are intolerant. The evil is not what they say about their cause, but what they say about their opponents." Robert Kennedy
This is an interesting site. I'm not a religious person myself, at least not at the moment, but religious tolerance would definitely be a good thing, no matter what your personal beliefs are. They've got some interesting things to say about Sept 11th and the aftermath, too. The media reported a number of anti-Muslim attacks in the days afterwards, but the site also mentions a number of personal accounts by Muslims who experienced acts of kindness. It's nice to see both sides, and the site definitely prides itself on being unbiased.
My computer screen's gone all weird... the picture's shifted over to the left. Fiddling with the monitor settings doesn't seem to fix it -- what's wrong? The whole left side of the screen is cut off, and there's a big black space over to the right. Fortunately, it's not too far over that I can't use the computer, but it's still annoying. And when I accidentally logged into my brother's setting before logging into mine, his setup looked fine. Grrr. Oh, and then when I did log into mine, there was text on the monitor asking me to choose settings, which I didn't know how to do... blah. (Jodi's a moron...)
Heh, I know this song. Vermillion. Why do I know it? Why did I download it? I don't know.
Life's a real mystery today.
